York Japan Society

I am an active member of the newly formed York Japan Society - the purpose of the group is to act as a bridge between the Japanese community in York and those other residents of York who have an interest in Japan. We organise fun, social events and also pair people up for language exchange.

Japanese lessons

Interested in learning Japanese in York?

Japanese courses run from Sept - Dec and again from January - May at York St. John university. These courses are available as part of a joint honours programme or as an extra-curricular subject but external students are also very welcome.  Beginners, continuation and higher levels will be available according to demand.

Intermediate group

This group meets every Monday evening in York, this class is suitable for people who have an understanding of basic Japanese but wish to improve. People wishing to join the class must be able to read hiragana, katakana and have knowledge of the present tense, past tense and the -te form.
